Warranties

Nation wide warranties are a very important part of your repair decision. There are times when you might think that cost or convenience might be the deciding factor, however sometimes the cheapest or the fastest isn’t always the best decision.
I had a customer just the other day that came in to the shop to have her car repaired. She was planning a long trip across the country and wanted to make sure she wouldn’t have any problems. We looked her car over and made some suggestions on repairs that should be completed, as well as repairing her main concern for the reason of her visit in the first place.
Her initial complaint was that her car would not start. We inspected the vehicle and found that it had been sitting up for quite some time. We started by replacing a fuel pump that would not produce the proper fuel pressures, after getting the vehicle to start we found that the mass air flow sensor was also malfunctioning and not allowing the vehicle to idle or perform properly. After seeking the customers approval we replaced the mass air flow sensor. Now it started to run well and we did quite a few additional repairs to ensure she would have a safe trip to the south east part of the country.
It wasn’t long after she left that we had our first problem. She called our shop just hours after leaving, she was broken down in Lakewood and needed help. I immediately packed up a few tools and headed her way. Once I arrived I noted that the vehicle would not idle, it would start but than die out. I suspected the new mass air flow sensor that we had replaced. I unplugged the mass air flow sensor to see if the vehicle would maintain an idle. After unplugging the sensor I found the vehicle would idle, so we left the sensor unplugged and made the trek back to our shop.
I called our parts supplier while in route back to the shop so that they could have a another new mass air flow sensor waiting for us when we returned. We replaced the mass air flow sensor and sent her on her way.
The story does not end there! Three days later we received a call from Jonesboro Arkansas. Our customer had broken down again in Arkansas while on her trip. Luckily Ahrens Automotive Services offers a free 12 month 12,000 mile nationwide warranty with all repairs! One of the additional repairs that we had completed was replacing an alternator that was not charging. Apparently the new alternator we had installed was not charging and had to be replaced. Before our customer had left we explained how our warranty works complete with a toll free phone number to call in case of breakdown. She called the toll free phone number and they directed her to a Certified Auto Repair Center in town. They took care of the repairs at no charge to the customer and sent her on her way.
This story had a happy ending, but if she wouldn’t have had the free warranty, she could have easily been at the mercy of a shop in the middle of no where and having to pay out of pocket! Not only did our warranty take care of the charges but was able to direct her to a shop with the same ethics and principals as our shop! Which to me is the most important piece of mind of all!
Welcome!
